Cookie Policy

Last Updated: April 2026

1. What This Policy Covers

This policy explains how MenuSquared uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the service and understand usage patterns.

2. Authentication Cookies

We use essential cookies managed by Supabase to keep you signed in to your account. These are strictly necessary for the service to function and cannot be disabled. They contain your encrypted session token and expire when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.

3. Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to cache your profile and menu data for faster loading, store your editor preferences (view mode, panel state), and maintain a random visitor identifier for analytics. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to third parties. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

4. Analytics Visitor Tracking

When someone views a published menu, we store a randomly generated identifier in their browser's local storage to distinguish unique visitors from repeat views. This identifier contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify an individual. It is used solely to provide menu owners with accurate view counts in their analytics dashboard.

5. What We Do Not Use

MenuSquared does not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, Google Analytics, or any cookie-based analytics service. We do not participate in cross-site tracking and we do not sell any data to advertisers. The analytics we use on our marketing pages and dashboard (Vercel Analytics) is cookieless — it does not set cookies, does not store identifiers on your device, and cannot be used to track you across other websites.

6. Third-Party Services

Stripe may set cookies during the checkout process to prevent fraud and process payments. Google Fonts may use standard HTTP caching when loading typefaces on published menus. Sentry, our error-monitoring service, does not set cookies but may briefly store diagnostic data in your browser when an application error occurs, so we can investigate the issue. These services operate under their own privacy policies.

7. Managing Browser Storage

You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser settings at any time. Clearing authentication cookies will sign you out. Clearing local storage will reset your cached preferences and generate a new visitor identifier on your next visit. The core service will continue to function normally.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.
