Upgrading or changing your plan

How to upgrade, downgrade, and what happens to your existing menus.

How to upgrade

  1. Go to Billing: Click the Billing tab in your dashboard sidebar.
  2. Choose a plan: Compare the available tiers and click Upgrade on the plan you want.
  3. Start your trial or complete payment: You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout page. First-time subscribers start a 14-day free trial without entering card details; billing only begins if you add a payment method during or after the trial. Returning subscribers enter payment details as usual.
  4. Instant activation: Your new plan takes effect immediately. No need to log out or refresh. All features unlock right away.

MenuSquared uses Stripe for all payment processing. Your payment information is handled securely by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

What happens when you upgrade

When you upgrade from Starter to Chef's Table or Business:

  • Published menu limit lifts: You can immediately publish additional menus.
  • PDF quality unlocks: Print-quality exports become available, using the highest-quality stored images plus bleed marks and CMYK options.
  • Branding badge removed: The "Menu by MenuSquared" badge disappears from your published menus.
  • Multi-brand unlocks (Business): You can create up to 5 restaurant brands, each with independent branding and menus.
  • Team features activate (Business): The Team tab appears in your sidebar and you can start inviting members.

All your existing menus, settings, and content remain exactly as they are.

Downgrading

You can downgrade your plan at any time from the Billing page. Here's what to expect:

  • Chef's Table to Starter: If you have more than 1 published menu, additional menus will need to be unpublished. PDF exports revert to Digital quality.
  • Business to Chef's Table: Team features are disabled and existing invitations are revoked, though team members' edits remain. If you have multiple restaurant brands, the brand switcher is hidden and your first brand is selected automatically. All brands and their menus are preserved.
  • Content is preserved: Your menus, settings, and content are never deleted when downgrading. Only feature access changes.

Downgrade timing

Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You'll continue to have access to your current plan's features until then.
