Uploading your logo
Add your logo, manage dark and light variants, and control placement.
Adding your logo
Your logo appears at the top of your menus and helps establish your brand identity. You can upload a logo in two places:
- Settings → Design System: Upload a restaurant-wide logo that becomes the default for all menus.
- Editor → Branding tab: Upload or change the logo for a specific menu.
To upload, drag and drop an image file onto the logo area, or click to browse your files. Supported formats are PNG, JPG, and WebP. For best results, use a PNG with a transparent background.
Tip: Transparent backgrounds work best
Upload your logo as a PNG with a transparent background. This lets it blend naturally with any template's color scheme, whether the background is light, dark, or colored.
Dark and light variants
If your logo doesn't work on all backgrounds (e.g., a dark logo that disappears on dark templates), you can upload separate variants:
- Default logo: Your primary logo, typically used on light backgrounds.
- Dark variant: An alternative version for dark-background templates. Often a white or light-colored version of your logo.
MenuSquared automatically selects the appropriate variant based on the template's background color. This ensures your logo is always visible and readable.
Header modes
The header mode controls how your logo and restaurant name are displayed at the top of the menu. Available modes depend on your template:
- Name Only: Displays just your restaurant name as text, with no logo. A clean, typographic approach.
- Logo Accent: Shows your logo alongside the restaurant name. The logo serves as a subtle brand mark.
- Logo Hero: Your logo takes center stage as a large, prominent element at the top of the menu.
- Logo Stamp: A compact logo treatment, often displayed as a small mark or watermark.
Select your preferred header mode in the Branding tab of the editor or in your restaurant's Design System settings.
Tips & frequently asked questions
What size should my logo be?
Aim for at least 400px wide for clarity across digital and print. Very large files are fine. MenuSquared handles resizing automatically. Avoid extremely small images (under 100px) as they may appear blurry.
Can I remove my logo?
Yes. Click the clear/remove button on the logo upload area to remove it. Your menu will fall back to the Name Only header mode, displaying just your restaurant name as text.
Why is my logo cropped oddly?
Some templates apply specific aspect ratios or treatments to logos (like monochrome or vibrant filters). If the result isn't what you expected, try a different header mode or switch to a template with different logo treatment.
